Our Installation Process
Exterior Contact Wash
The first step is to wash your vehicle thoroughly to make sure we have all the heavy contaminants off the paint.
This includes a foam soak, and then a double-bucket contact wash to make sure we’re not scratching the paint while washing it.
Step 1
Correction & Polish
Now that the paint is clean, we’re going to polish and/or correct the paint to make sure we have the best finish possible beneath the coating.
For most new cars this will be a “Level 1 Preparation” which means a polish to shine up the paint as best as possible, where on older vehicles we’ll use a cutting compound to remove scratches and imperfections.
Step 2
Paint Decontamination
This involes an iron removal decontamination to remove brake dust and other heavy metals that may have embedded themselves in the paint, as well as an isopropyl rubdown to remove any oils that may prohibit the coating from sticking.
This process ensures that we get the best possible bond of the ceramic coating with the paint.
Step 3
Coating Application
The coating installation itself is a tedious and slow process of making sure the coating goes on evenly without high or low spots.
Applying the coating involves using applicator pad to slowly and evenly set the coating, then leveling it with a clean microfiber once it starts to flash.
Step 4
Overnight Curing
After we install the coating, your vehicle will need to cure for at least 12 hours overnight in our shop or your garage to make sure the coating can properly harden.
During this time, you want to avoid touching the coating with water or anything else since it’s still soft.
Step 5
Ceramic Maintenance
We recommend that you schedule an inspection after about 6 months of having your coating to make sure that it’s performing optimally.
A ceramic maintenance involes a visual inspection as well as a top-coat that refreshes the surface of the coating.

What is a ceramic coating?
A ceramic coating is a liquid consisting of silicon dioxide applied to a car’s exterior, forming a chemical bond with the paint. It creates a durable, glossy layer that protects against UV rays, chemicals, and minor scratches.
How do you apply a ceramic coating?
Application of a ceramic coating is done through a methodical process involving extensive preparation, tedious application avoiding high-spots, and proper curing.
Can you install a ceramic coating outside?
Yes, we can acheive the same results whether in our shop or outside, although we need weather without rain or wind. For cars, you will need to pull it into a garage overnight for proper curing.
Do I have to bring my vehicle to you?
No, we can do it wherever’s most convenient for you.
How long does it take?
The time to install for a ceramic coating can vary based on the size of the vehicle and the preparation required, taking from 2 hours to 2 days to install, and then 12-24 hours to cure.
Does your ceramic coating have a warranty?
Yes, ceramic coatings applied to a painted surface do have warranties. Our coatings applied to other types of surfaces do not.
How should I maintain my car after a ceramic coating is applied?
We recommend using a basic electric pressure washer, a foam cannon, and car wash soap. Simply foam, rinse, and blow off with a leaf blower (to avoid water spots) for a decent clean. For a super clean finish, gently wash with a microfiber wash mitt. We do not recommend a brush pull-through car wash, an automatic touch-free car wash is good. Also, we recommend a Ceramic Maintenance Package from Vibrant yearly.
Can I just apply the coating myself?
There are certainly ceramic coatings available that you can buy and install yourself, although you’ll typically find that the best coatings require a certification in order to purchase.
How is ceramic coating different from waxing or sealants?
Ceramic coatings last much longer, provide stronger protection, and enhance the paint’s gloss more effectively. Unlike waxes that sit on the surface and melt at 120°F, ceramic coatings bond to the paint and withstand temperatures up to 485°F, ensuring durability even on hot days.
What's the difference between a coating and a ceramic spray?
Professional ceramic coatings use high concentrations of SiO₂ forming a strong, durable bond with your car’s paint, lasting several years. Ceramic sprays, found in retail stores, have lower concentrations, are easier to apply, but provide temporary protection, lasting a few weeks to months.
How long does a ceramic coating last?
Assuming proper maintenance, our ceramic coating lasts up to 9 years on painted surfaces, 5 years on gelcoat surfaces, and 3 years on boats.
